India secures 14th position in Gunn Report ’07

The Gunn Report has declared India as the world’s 14th most awarded country with 39 points this year. India’s ranking has gone up by six points compared to last year, when it stood at the 21st position. The most awarded country this year was the US, followed by the UK in second position, and then by Argentina, Brazil, Japan, Spain, Germany, Thailand, Sweden and Singapore.

Indian agency McCann-Erickson’s HappyDent Teeth Whitening Gum commercial, ‘HappyDent Palace’, was listed as the 10th most awarded commercial in the world. And O&M’s print campaign for the Indian Association for Promotion of Adoption and Child Welfare (IAPA) was listed as the 12th most awarded print campaign in the world. The prevalent perception of adoption is that it is a noble act because it helps an orphan. The campaign provided a new angle, which suggested that the parents get as much, if not more, from
the adoption in terms of love and joy.

ndia also scored in the list of best production companies. Mumbai based Equinox was listed as the 17th most awarded production company in the world.

At the global level, Fallon London’s ‘Paint’ commercial for Sony Bravia was the most awarded commercial of the year. Leo Burnett Bangkok’s series of ads for Clima Bicycle Locks was the most awarded print ad this year

TBWAChiatDay was the most awarded agency in the world, followed by Saatchi & Saatchi, New York and Los Angeles, DDB London, Dentsu and Fallon. The most awarded agency network was BBDO Worldwide, followed by Saatchi & Saatchi, TBWA Worldwide, DDB Worldwide and Ogilvy & Mather.

Nike was the most awarded advertiser in the world, followed by Volkswagen, Sony, Coca-Cola and Axe/Lynx.

The Gunn Report, created by advertising veteran Donald Gunn, is estimated from the winners’ lists of creative award shows around the world. In 2007, the top 37 award shows for TV and cinema and 19 top award shows for print were included. This year, for the first time, the interactive category has been featured, with results from 18 award shows.
